The Global DIY Summit is the world’s major event where retailers and manufacturers from the home improvement and garden centre industry have the opportunity for an exchange of views of current and future developments within the global market. This congress is being jointly hosted by the leading DIY professional organisations, EDRA (European DIY-Retail Association), HIMA (Home Improvement Manufacturers Association), and ghin (Global Home Improvement Network).

Session title: Sustainability in Retail: Challenges and Opportunities

Session description: Social responsibility has become central to the present and future progress of companies across all sectors, not only within the retailing industry, but also FMCG brands, as they all look to expand their understanding of the issues that surround and affect consumers. As businesses look to become more sustainable, there is increased focus on the impact that business growth has on society. To remain relevant in the eyes of conscious consumers, retailers and brands must be aware of the impact their actions have at the social, environmental and economic level, which is reflected in the wide variety of innovation in this space.
