Key findings

Flexible and smarter commuting

Traditional car ownership is declining, especially among younger generations, who favour flexible, cost-effective options. Consumers expect fast-paced and comfortable on-demand services, as they are seeking adaptable transportation options that fit hybrid work schedules and changing urban lifestyles.

Increasing preference for low-carbon options

Consumers are increasingly embracing electric vehicles and low-carbon alternatives, like public transport, cycling and shared mobility, driven by environmental concerns and progressive urban policy initiatives.

EV adoption faces challenges

Despite EV adaptation challenges like high upfront costs and limited infrastructure, interest in electric vehicles continues to grow, motivated by environmental awareness and supportive policy incentives in some regions. As more governments implement EV-friendly regulations and charging networks expand, adoption is expected to accelerate, especially in Asia, where affordable EVs are on the rise.

Autonomous implementation gains trust

Consumer trust in autonomous vehicles is increasing steadily around the globe, particularly in Asia Pacific and the Middle East. This momentum is further supported by advancements in AI and vehicle safety systems, as well as public education campaigns, which are contributing to a more receptive consumer base.

Demand for affordability and innovation

In 2025, the personal car market is recovering from production disruptions, but shortages, US tariffs and high prices are steering many cost-conscious consumers towards used vehicles as an affordable option. Meanwhile, new car shoppers are focusing on safety, reliability and advanced technology.
