Compared to 2022, inventory shortage was less of a damaging issue, since key players found methods to solve this major problem. Shrinking consumption confidence in Taiwan remained one of top concerns among many key players.
Consumers quickly shifted from physical stores to online retailing with the outbreak of COVID-19. Manufacturers and distributors remained concerned about the persistence of channel shifts even as the pandemic came under control.
Physical retail stores regained importance, appeal and traffic as fears of contracting COVID-19 ebbed. However, despite 2023 being the first full year without pandemic-related restrictions, an appreciation of the convenience of e-commerce saw the use of online shops persist.
Video games, and toys and games overall, is expected to see retail value (constant 2023 prices) growth slow over the forecast period. Traditional toys and games is expected to continue to see retail value (constant 2023 prices) sales drop before rebounding slightly towards the end of the forecast period.
