Retail e-commerce looks set to continue growing at a rapid pace in value terms (at constant 2024 prices) over the forecast period. This dynamic performance is likely to be fuelled in part by an expanding internet user base, improved digital infrastructure as well as changing consumer behaviours which are likely to favour online shopping over traditional offline retail.
Retail e-commerce is still seen to have plenty of room to grow thanks to the increasingly digital lifestyles of consumers in Thailand. There are certain factors that consumers value and which will likely encourage them to stick to online shopping, as well as attracting new online shoppers.
Prevailing economic uncertainty, inflation, and an increase in the cost of living has pushed many Thai consumers to prioritise affordability and value for money when shopping for groceries. In line with this, it is likely that grocery e-commerce will become increasingly popular not only due to value it offers, but also due to the convenience it offers, especially in urban areas where traffic congestion and air pollution is increasing.
