Longer and hotter summers are helping to expand the timeframe during which ice cream is most commonly consumed and with climate change having an increasing impact on the weather this should help to support the growth of ice cream over the forecast period. Consumers are, however, also increasingly eating ice cream all year long rather than just during the hotter summer months which will be key to the growth of the category.
Water ice cream is rising in popularity with sorbet becoming especially popular amongst Czech households. This is in part due to the health and wellness trend with sorbet viewed as a healthier option when it comes to ice cream, which is in part due to the use of fresh fruits and natural ingredients.
More consumers are shifting their preference to larger multi-pack and bulk packaging that offers a lower unit price by volume compared to single portion products. This is prompting retailers to provide more shelf space for multi-pack ice cream and bulk water ice cream.
