Consumer spending on footwear is expected to improve from 2024 onwards, with the category continuing to see progressive increases in volume and value growth over the course of the forecast period. Economic recovery and falling inflation will be the main catalyst for the revival in demand, with consumers keen to up their spend on footwear.
As the Danish economy improves, the premiumisation trend is expected to get back on track over the forecast period. This will result in a segment of consumers shifting from cheaper products such as fast fashion brands to more expensive premium brands.
E-commerce is set to remain the fastest growing sales channel for footwear in Denmark over the forecast period. A large segment of new online consumers discovered the benefits of online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is likely that a large segment of these consumers will, at least partly, continue with online shopping while new consumers will continue to turn to e-commerce.
