E-commerce is witnessing robust growth within the lower socioeconomic levels in Mexico, which has also been reflected in strong growth for the channel in footwear. Enhanced features such as size comparisons, detailed buyer reviews, and expanded product catalogues are making online shopping increasingly appealing.
In the dynamic footwear landscape in Mexico, there is growing demand for foreign products, yet the rising costs of importation present a significant challenge. Contrasting this, local production is increasingly recognised for its high quality by consumers.
The influx of counterfeit imported products remains a significant barrier to growth for footwear in Mexico, with the threat poised to persist in the forecast period. The normalisation of counterfeit sneakers, particularly imitations of brands such as Nike, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton, poses a growing challenge.
