The United Arab Emirates boasts a vast number of footwear outlets that offer a wide range of shoes (both branded and unbranded) at very low prices, including athletic footwear to high-end dress shoes. The market is also saturated with inexpensive Chinese-made shoes, particularly in places such as Dragon Mart.
In the United Arab Emirates, the adoption of AI in retail has so far been relatively slow, but it is expected to gain momentum in the short term as retailers start to understand its potential. In footwear, AI can play a crucial role in providing customers with personalised recommendations for the correct shoe size and style that suits their foot shape, potentially eliminating the need for in-store try-ons.
In the United Arab Emirates, the arrival of high net worth individuals (HNWIs) has significantly boosted the luxury segment within apparel and footwear. Although some residents may be reducing their spending, a considerable influx of wealthy newcomers — many coming from countries grappling with hyperinflation or political instability —continues to stimulate demand.
