Retail sales of footwear are expected to see minimal growth in retail volume and current value terms during the forecast period. In the short term, a challenging economic environment, characterised by high interest rates, will impact demand, and local consumers will remain cautious about spending money on discretionary items.
Footwear in Spain is expected to continue recording divergent trends over the forecast period, driven by the current economic framework. Spaniards are likely to continue spending on leisure activities, which will support the category's performance in the years ahead.
Demographic trends are likely to impact footwear for the foreseeable future. While the birth rate will continue to fall, presenting a challenge for children's footwear manufacturers, the population aged 65 and over is expected to keep growing.
