Despite the current challenges, vending in Bulgaria holds significant growth potential over the forecast period, largely due to increasing digitalisation and payment innovations. Consumers today expect seamless transactions, and as vending machines continue to integrate contactless and mobile payment solutions, they are likely to attract more users.
Vending represents a significant cost-saving opportunity for retailers, making it an attractive solution for locations where operating a full-service store is not economically viable. Unlike traditional retail spaces, vending machines require minimal overhead costs, eliminating the need for staff salaries, rent, and utility expenses associated with brick-and-mortar stores.
Despite its growth potential, vending in Bulgaria continues to face security challenges, particularly in relation to theft and vandalism. Over the late review period, media reports highlighted multiple incidents of vending machines being broken into, with perpetrators targeting both cash reserves and high-value products.
