In a cross-category trend, the Swedish economy is expected to continue its recovery in 2025 and over the forecast period, leading to increased consumer spending. This development is expected to have some positive impact on vending.
As the health and wellness trend is expected to continue in Sweden over the forecast period, consumers will also increasingly look for healthier snacks and on-the-go meals. Vending operators have been slow to respond to this change in consumer demands and, while convenience stores in Sweden offer a wide variety of healthy products, vending players have not kept up to date – except when they are placed in gymnasiums, for example, and thus offer a healthier selection.
In addition to offering a healthier range of products, the modernisation of vending machines could help to revive the image of vending. Indeed, vending is considered a suitable channel to test out and adopt new technologies and smart innovations.
