Vending machines are mainly found in cities and urbanised areas where they respond to the high demand for convenience from those leading hectic and on-the-go lifestyles. As such, vending should benefit from ongoing urbanisation within Thailand as well as other factors such as increased economic stability and strong growth in tourism.
Apart from benefiting from changes in consumer preferences, vending is also likely to benefit from the low maintenance and running costs of these machines. Investors may be attracted to the low costs associated with vending compared to opening physical stores, with vending machines also being easy to relocate if they do not succeed in some areas.
Thanks to a growing group of ‘kidults’ who have a high purchasing power and a strong affinity for collectibles, the vending market is expected to be backed up by the growing demand for art toys and collectibles, particularly blind boxes, soft toy collections, licensed products. Vending machines are expected to become increasingly popular venues for selling art toys and collectibles, particularly in high-traffic areas such as shopping malls and department stores, with these catering to collectors and enthusiasts, as well as children looking pocket-money treats.
