RTDs is expected to see total volume sales stagnate in Finland over the forecast period. RTDs in Finland will continue to appeal especially to young adults as easy-to-serve options available in more natural flavours and ingredients, higher and premium quality versions and with a range of new flavour experiences.
Flavours are expected to become more exotic, with new flavour combinations anticipated as consumers seek new flavour experiences. For example, Sinebrychoff’s new Koff Long Drink Gin & Tropical Lime-Mandarin-Kiwi was a surprising flavour combination, previously unseen among long drinks in Finland.
There is expected to be a bolder move towards premium quality RTDs, with craft spirits and natural juices, while also delivering eye-pleasing natural colours. Also, the offer of standard brands is predicted to move away from artificial ingredients, following the new standards set by premium craft RTDs.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
