Volume sales of coffee are expected to continue to grow positively between 2023 and 2028, although the rate of growth will slow considerably as the forecast period progress. This will be mainly due to the growing maturity of the Indonesian coffee market, as consumption becomes an integral part of everyday lifestyles.
Small local grocers are expected to remain the largest contributor to off-trade volume growth during the forecast period, with sachet packaging remaining an affordable choice for price sensitive, suburban consumers. While the prices of coffee sachets are expected to continue to increase, moving forward, due to rising raw materials costs,, this is unlikely to impede retail volume growth, as long as the price per sachet does not exceed IDR 2000.
Instant coffee is expected to see faster growth than fresh coffee in retail volume terms during the forecast period. This will be supported by continued investment by the leading players, which will focus on the development of new flavour variants, as well as those with different types of sweeteners.
