As health awareness grows amongst consumers, and carbonates are increasingly perceived as unhealthy drinks, volume sales are expected to come under pressure. Waning consumer demand and a pronounced shift to healthier soft drink categories, mainly bottled water and to some extent RTD tea, will result in marginal off-trade volume growth over the forecast period.
Growing consumer awareness of local craft drinks will continue to drive the appeal of Slovenian brands. Local alcoholic drinks manufacturers are expected to expand into carbonated mixers and contribute to the premiumisation of the category.
Sustainability initiatives by leading players are primarily focused on introducing new, environmentally-friendly packaging. In 2024, manufacturers continued to introduce non-removable caps that remain attached to the top of the bottle, making them easier to collect and recycle.
