Home care saw volume sales decline in Lebanon in 2024. Demand remained under pressure from a contracting population due to a high rate of emigration, and the reluctance of cash-strapped consumers to spend on products that were seen as non-essential.
Home care continued to face challenges in Lebanon in 2024. The country was impacted from 2020 onwards by households emigrating to escape the high inflation rate, high levels of unemployment, the sharp decline in the value of the local currency and political uncertainties around the recent Israel-Hezbollah conflict in Lebanon.
The Lebanese population has been steadily declining over a period of many years, a trend that has been accelerated by the ongoing socioeconomic crisis. There are numerous reasons for such a precipitous decline in the country’s population, including widespread emigration, especially amongst young adults.
Lebanon continued to face a severe and seemingly intractable socioeconomic crisis in 2024 and the impact of this continued to have a devastating impact on the lives of the local population. The economic crisis took hold in earnest during 2019 and has only worsened since then.
While Lebanon’s infrastructure issues continued to deteriorate towards the end of the review period as the economic crisis continued, these issues are deeply rooted and have long been causing hardship for local people. Nonetheless, while power cuts were already common, they have now evolved into extended periods without any electricity supply at all.
Static volume growth is expected to be seen across home care over the forecast period. Nonetheless, the economic situation is expected to remain extremely challenging, with growth rates expected to remain minimal as a result.
