Domestic brands will remain strong over the forecast period, notably so with the boost given to rapeseed oil in light of the challenges faced by olive oil. Indeed, domestic rapeseed oil manufacturers tend to stress the local ingredients and origin of their oils, such as seen with the aforementioned examples from Virgino, which also features the Produce of Finland logo and Heat Symbol, as well as others such as Alavuden.
It is noteworthy that S Group is phasing out its Rainbow brand, which has been present in the country for over 50 years. The idea is to replace the line with even more affordable options, although this process is expected to take some time and the Rainbow brand is expected to remain present on store shelves through to 2026, as the group intends to continue to use its existing Rainbow stock.
Further new product developments are expected in edible oils over the forecast period, featuring value-added innovations as well as new flavour offerings. For example, as seen with the Keiju brand (from Bunge Finland Oy) introducing two new spray oils – a lemon variant in rapeseed oil, and an extra virgin spray olive oil.
