Palm oil production suffers a negative reputation and has earned a bad image among consumers because palm oil is considered to be an unecological and unsustainable crop, sometimes associated with illegal logging of the Amazon Rainforest. Despite this, demand for palm oil is growing both domestically and internationally, though as consumers become more environmentally conscious and aware of the sector’s impact, companies need to take steps to enhance their image.
Rising health awareness among Peruvians means that, the association of some oils with fat and obesity is becoming a significant factor in purchasing preferences. Consequently, olive, corn, and sunflower oils are expected to see improved volume sales growth over the forecast period as consumers become more aware of their health benefits.
Consumers will remain highly sensitive to prices amid ongoing economic difficulties, which will drive them to seek brands that offer quality products at affordable rates. This trend is particularly significant in categories like edible oils, where key products are often viewed as commodities.
