The ongoing clean label trend is inspiring innovation in edible oils. Notably, there is a strong and rising trend for pesticide-free variants in olive oils, such as seen from edible oils leader Lesieur, who has committed to ensuring all of its seed oils will be made using French grains, along with the announcement that all of its edible oils products will become pesticide-free and will be sold in recyclable bottles made from 100% recycled plastic.
Sustainability trends will also inspire packaging developments over the forecast period. For example, as noted with the aforementioned efforts from Lesieur, who announced that all of its edible oils products will become pesticide-free and will be sold in recyclable bottles made from 100% recycled plastic.
Lesieur continues to lead the way in the future of edible oils – in its product developments and sustainability initiatives. For example, as seen with the domestic player’s “Engaged Oil” programme, under which two new oil references were launched in early 2024.

Please note blended oil that contain over 50% of one type of oil are categorised in that category, e.g. blended oil with 60% soy oil is categorised in soy oil; whereas blended oils with less than 50% of a specific type of oil are categorised in other edible oil. Includes: Pre-packaged edible oils products purchased by consumers through legally established retail channels. Excludes: Unpackaged/bulk oils, i.e. instances where consumers bring an empty container or plastic bag to be (re)filled with cooking oil. Example: Minyak curah in Indonesia.
