Edible oils is precited to see a recovery in demand over the forecast period with the category expected to see healthy growth in retail volume and value terms (at constant 2023 prices). As inflation stabilises and economic activity picks up disposable income should increase thus allowing consumers to increase their spending on edible oils.
As environmental concerns continue to grow companies are set to increasingly adopt sustainable practices, both in terms of production and packaging. For example, Aceites Borges Pont SA has introduced a compostable cup for its single-dose Extra Virgin Olive Oil with it aiming to reduce the company's carbon footprint.
In Spain, the consumption of other edible oils such as soy, grapeseed, avocado, etc has traditionally been relatively low compared to other countries as olive oil holds a significant position as a staple product in the Spanish diet. However, with the recent disruption in the supply of sunflower oil and the impact of inflation on the price of edible oils, the industry is expected to pay closer attention to other edible oils.
