Sunflower oil will retain a dominant share of edible oils retail volume sales in Kazakhstan over the forecast period, and also looks set to remain one of the most dynamic performers in this regard. While affordability will continue to be a bedrock of its appeal, the category is likely to witness further price increases in the short-to-medium term amidst ongoing disruption to global supply chains caused by climate change, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the wider adoption of this product type as a lower cost alternative to olive oil.
Rapeseed oil is projected to post solid growth in retail volume and current value sales over the forecast period. With health concerns becoming more influential in the food choices of Kazakhstanis, rising awareness that this product type is rich in unsaturated fats and vitamin E – a potent antioxidant – will continue to broaden its appeal.
Corn oil should continue to gain popularity in Kazakhstan over the forecast period. Similar to the case with rapeseed oil, demand is expected to rise steadily as consumers become better informed about its health credentials and the specific benefits it provides in terms of cooking applications.
