The unit selling price of edible oils is anticipated to stabilise as manufacturers are predicted to increase their selling prices marginally or maintain them over the forecast period. Hence, consumers are likely to be more willing to spend on these products due to their affordability and accessibility since they are widely distributed to major grocery retailers.
Ongoing price concerns will mean that Malaysian consumers are unlikely to switch from vegetable and seed oil to olive oil during the forecast period despite growing recognition of the nutritional benefits of olive oil. The unit selling price of olive oil is likely to continue to surge during the forecast period as most of the brands on the market are imported and therefore face high shipment costs.
Existing players such as Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd and Sime Darby Group are expected to introduce new palm oil and sunflower oil products, since these companies benefit from strong local supply and production of palm oil and continuous product innovation. FFM Bhd and Lam Soon (M) Bhd are predicted to compete through competitive selling prices, promotional activity such as the use of free gifts like cooking utensils, and gaining advantageous shelf space positioning, such as a presence on highly visible shelves and displays dedicated to price promotions.

Includes: Pre-packaged edible oils products purchased by consumers through legally established retail channels. Excludes: Unpackaged/bulk oils, i.e. instances where consumers bring an empty container or plastic bag to be (re)filled with cooking oil. Example: Minyak curah in Indonesia.
