Although health-conscious consumers are switching to more affordable edible oils, there are a group of consumers who prioritise their nutritional intake and are willing to pay more for high-quality ingredients. Premium olive oil brands use more unique olive varieties and offer direct shipping to attract affluent consumers who value both the flavour and health benefits.
Consumers prioritising food safety and health are increasingly focused on the ingredients and production processes use to make cooking oils. Niche brands that emphasise the use of small-farm ingredients and freshly pressed methods are gaining popularity as a result.
Sustainable development is a key focus for future industry development, with players seeking to extend beyond packaging to include the promotion and recycling of waste cooking oil as another critical area of emphasis. After recycling, waste cooking oil can be used as a raw material for biodiesel or DIY eco-friendly soap, contributing to the circular economy and reuse goals.
