Anticipated to remain strong throughout the forecast period, the growth in retail value sales of edible oils is driven by persistent home-office trends, which encourage increased at-home cooking and, consequently, a higher demand for edible oils. Rapeseed oil, alongside olive oil, is expected to be the standout performer among edible oils in terms of both value and volume sales growth.
The primary growth driver remains health and wellness. The ongoing trend towards healthier lifestyles and more balanced nutrition is set to bolster demand for edible oils due to their recognised nutritional benefits and superior digestibility compared to other edible fats.
While private labels dominated the edible oils market in 2023, it is predicted that their market share will decline during the forecast period. This shift will be most pronounced in the olive oil segment as branded manufacturers leverage premiumisation to showcase their products, a trend already underway during the review period.
