The emergence of the Score brand not only added to the competitive landscape of Chilean energy drinks but also marked a paradigm shift in how players compete and where they target their offerings. Prior to Score's entry, energy drinks primarily focused on mid- and high-income segments, where these beverages were perceived as a choice for parties or select sports events.
The mixology trend is a recurring theme across various categories in alcoholic drinks, with the latter often paired with traditional soft drinks. Currently, mixology is making a strong statement in energy drinks, particularly by Red Bull.
While energy drinks offers further significant potential over the forecast period, consumer interest has traditionally been sustained by flavour innovation. However, there will come a point when the scope of innovation will need to extend beyond new flavours, and international experience suggests that functionality could be the next frontier to explore.
