Over the forecast period, growth is expected to continue in energy drinks in Vietnam both off-trade and on-trade, in both volume and current value terms. However, the category is expected to become more mature, with less room for development.
Over the forecast period, even more Vietnamese consumers are expected to be more aware of their health and wellness. Overconsumption of sugar, which is abundant in many energy drinks, has been related to an increased risk of developing diabetes, dental decay, and obesity.
In the review period, brands such as Red Bull and Wake-up 247 typically focused on targeting working-class individuals who require energy to meet deadlines or achieve key performance indicators. However, these consumers have become increasingly aware of diabetes, and are inclined to reduce their sugar intake as they age, and find it more challenging to handle larger amounts of sugar than in the past.
