Fragrances will continue to see growth during the forecast period, led by premium products, though mass products will see sales improve. The longstanding traditional appeal of premium fragrances for French consumers will persist, with growth driven by innovation from major brands and some smaller niche players.
Behind the continued growth in fragrances sales is the rise of many niche brands, such as Francis Kurkdijan, Amouage, and Creed. These scents tend to be sold for higher prices than mainstream options but boast a very desirable niche image.
Alcohol-free fragrances are typically for children, but 2024 saw some adult-focused launches including L’Eau Soilogne by Petit Bateau, Cabriole by Hermès, and Bonne Étoile by Dior. Consumers are driving this trend, which is fuelled by demand for sustainable products and clean beauty.

Fragrances
This is the aggregation of men's, women's and unisex mass and premium fragrances as well as fragrances sets/kits and body mists. The distinction between mass market and premium is normally price and label/positioning (mass fragrances rarely carry a designer label) and distribution. Also includes hair fragrances with a primary function of making hair smell good and not to be confused with hair oil and other styling/conditioning products with hair fragrances, whose primary function is to either condition or style over fragrance.
