Although volume sales of beer in Australia are predicted to maintain steady growth over the forecast period, the surge in demand for RTDs is a challenge for beer producers. The current landscape of beer has reached maturity, with brands having established their positions in the local market.
Demand for non/low alcohol beer in Australia is expected to further rise over the forecast period. Low alcohol beer is significantly more popular among local consumers, but non alcoholic beer is set to be more dynamic in terms of volume growth over the forecast period.
Sustainability will continue to be a vital area for beer manufacturers over the forecast period. It is clear from Euromonitor International’s research across all industries that sustainability has been a prevalent topic over the last 5-10 years.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
