Non-alcoholic beer is expected to see steady growth in total volume terms over the forecast period. Since the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine some people have started to avoid or decrease their alcohol consumption as they look to take better care of their long-term health.
Flavoured/mixed lager and flavoured beer in general is expected to see healthy growth over the forecast period, boosted by the growing interest in flavoured drinks among local consumers alongside an increasing interest in mixology. Some players focused on more traditional fruits and berries flavours when launching new beer varieties in 2023 such as Carlsberg’s Lvivske Radler which comes in two options, beer with lemon and mint, and beer with apple and mint.
Besides long-term trends like the growing interest in craft, flavoured and non-alcoholic beer, the recovery of beer in Ukraine will likely also be driven by the full return of marketing support including social media, print and TV advertising, alongside price promotions and new launches. Before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, price promotions played a key role in driving sales, especially among less affluent consumers.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
