Beer sales are expected to rise steadily over the forecast period in line with the recovery of the Vietnamese economy. As economic conditions improve, consumers will be more willing to spend on non-essential products like beer and will tend to go out for drinks in the on-trade.
The draft law on special consumption tax was consulted by the National Assembly at the 8th session in November 2024, with various opinions viewed around the plan to increase excise tax on alcohol, beer, and tobacco. Particularly, the draft law on special consumption tax proposes to adjust the tax on alcohol and beer products by up to 100% for 5 consecutive years.
During the forecast period, the premium and mid-priced segments are likely to witness a significant increase in product innovation. The demand for more sophisticated tastes will increase as the economy improves.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
