The Peruvian economy is expected to show signs of improvement in 2024, which should result in sales of beer returning to growth in total volume terms. Nonetheless, the economic outlook is still uncertain given the social and political issues that are having a lot of influence on the country's development.
Peru experienced various economic, social and political challenges during 2022 and 2023 which meant that the key players in beer shifted focus away from new product development and innovation. Given the prevailing economic uncertainty, it is expected that there will be little or no innovation in terms of launches in 2024, with players being more likely to focus on promoting their existing product lines.
Craft beer brands face a challenging future due to the strength of industrial beer brands in the country, added to the increasing popularity of imported beer and RTDs – which are sometimes seen as a premium or better value option to craft beer. For these reasons, craft beer brands will need to focus on differentiating their products.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
