Wine in Mexico is set to maintain solid but slowing total volume growth rates over the course of the forecast period, with increases expected both on-trade and off-trade. However, moving forward, wine is expected to see challenges, such as being impacted by climate change, due to increasingly variable weather, from droughts, to greater rainfall than in average years.
As previously mentioned, local wines saw increased production in Mexico in recent years. Valle de Guadalupe is amongst the most relevant wine-producing regions in the country.
After strong growth in online sales of fast-moving consumer goods during the initial outbreak of COVID-19, retail e-commerce continued to see growth in total volume sales in wine in 2023. Growth was initially driven by the websites of hypermarkets and supermarkets, but the most dynamic players in this regard have been manufacturers.
