Still wine is expected to continue its confident and positive growth trajectory, fuelled by its per capita potential and popularity among younger consumers of legal drinking age. The culture surrounding wine consumption is evolving, with young people viewing it as a means of enjoyment rather than solely for intoxication, driving further demand.
Anticipated innovations and developments from local manufacturers, such as Hamkor JSC and Bagizagan OJSC, known for their historical activity, are expected to further drive growth. New product developments will be key drivers of advancement in wine, together with increasing tourism.
The increased freedom of action for local players will be further facilitated by streamlined bureaucratic procedures, creating opportunities for both domestic development and increased exports. A significant transformation occurred in 2022/2023 with the restructuring of the Agency for the Development of Viticulture and Winemaking under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, leading to a more transparent competitive landscape in both local and export markets.
