The persistent concerns about health will continue to exert pressure on juice sales. To address consumer worries about sugar content, innovative functional blends like immunological shots, detox, digestive aids, and overall wellbeing products will drive growth.
The introduction of a VAT increase on sugary drinks in the off-trade channel at the end of 2023 is expected to significantly boost value sales but hinder volume growth due to a resultant 10% price increase. This tax-induced price rise will heighten awareness regarding the need to reduce sugar consumption.
Despite starting from a modest point, plant waters (specifically aloe vera) are anticipated to demonstrate robust performance in both the off-trade and on-trade channels throughout the forecast period. Plant waters benefit from positive health perceptions and potentially offer health benefits, aligning well with the prevalent trend towards health and wellness.

Juice
This category covers all still packaged juice obtained from fruits or vegetables by mechanical processes, reconstituted or fresh, often including pulp or fruit/vegetable puree. All unpackaged juices are excluded. Only still drinks are included here. Carbonated varieties are included non-cola carbonates. Juice-flavoured milk drinks and fruit shakes which are primarily milk are excluded–these are instead tracked in Packaged Foods Dairy. However, if the juice component is greater, the product is to be excluded from Packaged Foods Dairy coverage and tracked under the relevant category (based on % juice content) within Soft Drinks juice. This sector is the aggregation of 100% juice, nectars (25-99% juice content), juice drinks (up to 24% juice content), and coconut & other plant waters.
